How to run a round robin for 8 pickleball players

Eight players, two courts, everyone plays with everyone — the classic social format. Seven rounds does it: each player partners all seven others exactly once. Games to 11 (win by 1, to keep rounds moving) run about 12 minutes; with rotation time you're at ~95 minutes for the full seven rounds — or play the first five rounds and fit comfortably in 75.

Making it run smoothly

Post the chart before anyone plays — the #1 cause of round-robin chaos is deciding rotations live.

Score to 11, win by 1. Win-by-2 sounds fair and wrecks the schedule; one 15-13 game stalls both courts.

Rank by points, not wins. With rotating partners, cumulative points won is the fairest individual metric.

Odd numbers happen. 7 players? Use the 8-spot chart and treat the missing number's partner as sitting that round.

Questions

How long does an 8-player round robin take?

About 95 minutes for all 7 rounds at games to 11 — or stop after 5 rounds for a 75-minute session.

Does everyone really partner everyone?

Yes — the chart is a mathematical rotation (a 1-factorization): 7 rounds, 7 different partners, no repeats.

What about opponents repeating?

With 8 players opponents do repeat while partners never do — that's inherent to the format and nobody minds.
